So, Chris officially graduated today, with Distinguished Honors as expected. I am totally proud of his accomplishments thus far! The ceremony lasted about 30 minutes, just long enough to thoroughly bore the kids beyond description, lol. But it was a nice ceremony.
Its amazing to sit here tonight, thinking of todays events and compare them to the anxiety and nervousness I felt with his BCT graduation. I am also so amazed at how far I have came with learning my ranks, confidence in meeting and greeting other SGT's and officers. I felt confident today. Like I belonged. I actually understood all that was going on! BCT was so overwhelming and I remember thinking, I will never learn these ranks and get over this nervousness meeting all of these people, shaking hands, when do I stand, when do I place my hand over my heart in respect for our Nation and Flag...
Well, he has graduated AIT, but is sorta in limbo, with no paper orders for Hawaii yet. The lady that cuts orders took a vacation and is now backed up. Supposedly we should have them in our hands tomorrow. I hope so. The schools in Hawaii start the last week of July. I really want to get into housing and get these kids settled into something stable like school. I really want them to start with all the other students at the first of the year. But at this rate, they may enter the school system a week or two late.
I will post an update on orders as soon as I get them. Until then, we shall remain in Augusta...
