More Combat Spouse Day Details!!!

This is for you Cole!!

We started out the day signing a medical release form, lol!!! Then we were fitted in our IBA's and Kevlar, and given our "rubber guns"

We were placed in formation (totally clueless) and sent to the canopy for opening ceremonies. Given a quick lesson of "attention" and "at ease" picked a motto for our Battalion "ORDNANCE ROCKS" and then were dismissed to the buses. We were bused to the Shooting Simulator, which was fun. Sorta like a video game, with real guns and blanks and a laser.... I actually hit targets :)

We then were taken to the Litter Carry Relay, where we had to roll a dummy onto a litter, lift them up and run as a team and turn around and run back. This simulated aiding a wounded soldier in a combat zone and taking them to the medics. Yeah..... I fell. Not sure HOW I fell, especially since Chris was filming AND Ben was filming but they missed my fall, Just me getting up! lol I have a nice bruise on the underside of my knee. But I was fine, and I DIDN'T DROP MY RIFLE! :)

We went from there to the HEAT... Humve simulator. We were actually able to get inside, strap in and was turned upside down. That was fun. They did it extremely slow. But, this simulator is used at full speed to train the soldiers what it feels like to be in a humve and hit. I can't imagine!!!!

We went to lunch and then reflexive fire, where they tell you which way to turn, and then you aim at the targets and shoot. We were using real M-16's with blanks. My arms were sore by the end of 30 minutes of firing. It was fun though.

We then got to tour a signal operations heavy armored truck (the one I am sitting in the picture). Very interesting stuff!

We were then sent to the "Glass House" and I volunteered to learn how to clear a room! Wow, that was so much fun. There are so many steps that they take to insure everyone is on the same page of communication. It was fun running around with guns!

Then we were shown how to search a vehicle and a person. Shown the tents and the living quarters of soldiers on a fob (no personal space AT ALL)

We then were awarded a Combat Spouse Badge and Certificate. Me and Donna were the only AIT students, and for being willing to jump right in, we were awarded two coins. The Army gives coins as a "token of recognition"

I am attending the 1700 formation this evening for another recognition of our efforts last tuesday.

It was so much fun. I got to spend a great day with my man, learned a TON and have understanding (for the most part) and UTTER respect for what they go through!
