YAY! I got to speak with Chris!

I totally missed Chris' first phone call this morning, but did get the message that he would try again this evening, and he did around 6:30pm....

He said that he didn't get to leave the airport on his bus till 7:00pm tuesday night and then they drove to Ft. Jackson SC. They arrived a little after 12:00am and put them straight to work, not sure everything they did, I know he said it was crazy busy and he did write me some letters and had some stuff to mail back and should be mailed within the next few days. He did not get to sleep until 9:00pm LAST NIGHT! I know he was exhausted. He said he doesn't even remember his head hitting the bed.

Today was a laid back day being the 1st and a holiday. They couldn't complete any of their medical or dental requirements and will be playing catch-up tomorrow. He did say his knee has started throbbing and bothering him after stomping too hard during Marching practice (he injured his knee at work about 7 weeks ago, and its still not 100%) He is sucking it up and trying to move on, but he has his first PT test next week where he is expected to try to run the full two miles. I worry about him.

It turns out that he wasn't supposed to be calling me when he did, but everyone upstairs was allowed to use their cells. We were told no cell phones were permitted. So, he snuck downstairs during a movie to call me from a pay phone. The last thing I heard from him was "Oh, I gotta go, I see them marching down the hall and a bunch of Drill Sergeants are coming....." I have a feeling he was completing some push ups shortly after getting off the phone with me!

He told me so far he was having a blast, other than his knee bothering him. I am thankful for that and I hope it continues! I will keep you posted as much as possible!
